CAROL singers from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Chelmsley Wood raised an impressive £340 from two sessions singing seasonal favourites outside Morrisons at Castle Bromwich.

The festive congregation first burst into song on Saturday, December 11 and followed it up on Christmas Eve with big hearted residents responding by dipping their hands into their pockets.

“This was the 15th year that the group had performed there and collected money for charity,” said group spokeswoman Janet Morley from Chelmsley Wood. “People are very generous at this time of year and as a result we have managed to raise a total of £7,000 for various charities.”
