‘Clock’ era has wound down

IT’S the end of an era for one Castle Bromwich landmark - with a history stretching back over 60 years.

IT’S the end of an era for one Castle Bromwich landmark - with a history stretching back over 60 years.

The Clock Garage, in Newport Road, has been operating as a car garage since the 1940s.

Named after its four-sided clock tower, the building was latterly the home of the Robin and Day Peugeot Dealership.

The French car giant had been trading at the site since the late 1960s and many staff had worked there for decades.

But now the team have made the move to a new premises on the nearby Tyburn Road, bringing the curtain down on a piece of motoring history.

Peugeot had decided to up sticks after their lease ran out. The future of the site is still being discussed by oil giant BP - the current owners.
