HOWZAT? - Vicars and Imams swapped vestments for cricket whites this week as they battled in their annual friendly match up.

Church of England clergy and Imams from around Birmingham and Solihull played at Hampton-in-Arden Cricket Club on Tuesday evening, as part of the Solihull Building Bridges Islamic Initiative.

The game was finally won by the clergymen with a score of 116 for one off 17 overs. The clergy were chasing a total of 112.

Farid Ali, aged 44, from the initiative, said the game was too close to call at times but everybody who came to watch or play had fun.

Mr Ali said: “The atmosphere at these matches is always great. It’s more like the coming together of friends rather than a competition.

“Family and friends turned up and we all enjoyed a nice tea of cakes and samosas.”
