AN ELDERLY man who suffered multiple injuries after being involved in a collision with a vehicle in Blossomfield Road last Thursday is in a critical condition in Heartlands Hospital.
The man, who is thought to be in his 70’s and from the borough sustained injuries to his head and wrist following the incident at approximately 3.50pm on December 4, close to the Dorchester Road junction and the entrance to Tudor Grange Sports Centre.
The driver, who was travelling in a Renault Safrane, was unhurt in the accident.
Traffic along roads close to the scene were in a state of gridlock and police were drafted in to set up diversions while Blossomfield Road was closed for three and a half hours afterwards.
Staff from the Parkwood Leisure site at Tudor Grange rallied round and tried to help the injured man at the scene with resuscitation being administered from duty manager Pauline Day before the man was transported by ambulance to Heartlands Hospital.
