KNOWLE Scouts have created a commemorative film of the village as it celebrated some of the biggest events of this year.
Knowle: A Celebration 2012 is a 45 minute documentary aiming to capture the atmosphere during the year of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and the Olympics.
Rebekah Bennett, group fund-raiser, said: “It’s a nice thing to be able to look back on. Knowle has a really great way of coming together for special events. There always seems to be something going on.”
The original plan had been to create a DVD memento of the Knockout Knowle event, at the Jubilee Festival, to raise funds for repairs and improvements to the scouts’ hut. But the idea proved so popular that the group commissioned TV company Isis Media to produce a film representing the whole of Knowle. It includes footage of the Jubilee High Street Fair, street parties and Knowle Fun Run as well as archive material from the 1960s and much more.
The DVD is £10 with profits divided equally between 1st Knowle Scout Group, Arden PTA and Knowle Primary PTA.
Mrs Bennett said the scouts were hoping to raise at least £1,000 per charity.
“We have had a great experience in being a part of this project and are extremely proud of what we have achieved,” she added.
Knowle: A Celebration 2012 is available from village shops; The Royle Household, Oxfam, Eric Lyons Butchers and Tony Barbieri Hairdressers.
