BUSINESS leaders have welcomed the announcement by the Highways Agency of a number of improvements to the West Midland’s roads network.
Birmingham Chamber of Commerce Group said the work, part of a £217 million national programme, would support several strategic assets.
Chamber president Michael Ward said: “Schemes such as the improvements to M42 junction 10, M42 junction 6 and M42 junction 9 are vital to the region’s well-being and could create more than 8,000 jobs.
“They will reduce journey times and congestion and will boost the region’s economy by supporting its strategic assets such as Birmingham Airport, the National Exhibition Centre, Longbridge and Birmingham Business Park, Solihull.
“It is vital that we ensure our region and businesses are as accessible as possible and that people can travel across the Midlands quickly and consistently.”
