HARD-working Solihull Community Foundation (SCF) is this month’s featured charity as the Solihull News teams up with Handmade Burger Co’s ‘Give Back’ campaign.
The Touchwood restaurant is donating 25p from each burger sold in the ‘Give Back’ range to charity and at the end of the year all the money will go to one organisation.
SCF was established in 1997 to channel charitable donations to the many local community groups needing financial support in Solihull.
It administers funds on behalf of local donors aswell as the government through Grassroots Grants, the EU through the European Social Fund and through Sport Relief.
The professional grant-givers are inviting businesses, fund raising groups and individuals across Solihull to get involved through investing in the Grassroots Endowment Challenge - the first of its kind in England.
The Endowment Challenge offers the chance to contribute directly to supporting and sustaining voluntary groups within Solihull.
Over the years SCF have helped numerous groups with funds most notably the Association for Women & Children in Distress who received a £2,000 grant.
A £1,400 Sports Relief grant was also given to the Solihull Children’s Special Needs Association which is a playschool supporting the development of children with a range of disabilities.
Grants of £1,880 and £690 were also handed out to The Lunch Club based at Kingshurst Evangelical Church and Shirley & District Allotment Society respectively.
