BUS services running between rural areas and Solihull town centre have received heavy criticism from users following concerns they are continuously running late.
At the centre of many of the complaints received is the No 82 service, run by Blue Diamond between Solihull and Coventry.
The route passes through a number of the borough’s more remote villages including Knowle and Hampton-in-Arden and is a lifeline to many of the elderly residents who live there.
Complaints included regular lateness, drivers not following set routes or even on occasions getting lost.
Nichola Ruddick, 65, of Marsh Lane, is a regular user of the service as part of her role in the Midlands Youth Jazz Orchestra.
She said: “When it started it was brilliant, one of the best services we’ve ever had but the last couple of weeks it’s always late.
“It’s the biggest problem to my mind, we don’t know if it is coming or not
“On one occasion in cold weather I stood next to an old lady who was shivering, she should have known if and when the bus is coming.”
And another Hampton resident, from Meadow Drive, added: “The bus is regularly 20 minutes late and it’s only an hourly service.”
A spokesman for Blue Diamond said: “We were not aware of any underlying issues which could have caused disruption to our 82 service, as there have been no changes to either the timetable or our vehicle workings since the end of February.
“Following the concerns raised we will therefore be looking into our service delivery as maintaining and developing a reliable, punctual service remains a priority to us.”
