CONSULTATION is to begin on a proposal to bring together the pupils of Kingfisher and Bosworth Wood Primary Schools in a brand new school building.

At a meeting last night, members of a special scrutiny meeting agreed to uphold the decision made by the Cabinet Member for education, children and young people, Councillor Ken Meeson, which was: to go out to consultation on the proposal to bring together the pupil populations of Bosworth Wood and Kingfisher Primary schools in the new school being built in North Arran Way. This will be achieved by the technical closure of Kingfisher Primary School and the relocation of Bosworth Wood Primary School.

All the children presently attending both schools will be guaranteed places in the new school building.

The proposal will now go out to statutory consultation. The views of all sectors of the community will be sought on all aspects of the proposal, including a particular question regarding the name of the school and catchment areas.

If approved, the changes would take place from the end of the 2008/2009 academic year.
