Coroner’s verdict on firefighter crash victim

WARWICKSHIRE coroner Sean McGovern recorded an accidental death verdict at the resumed inquest on off-duty Sheldon-based firefighter Tim Cartlidge, who died of multiple injuries last September after the BMW car he was driving left Harbury Lane, Chesterton, south Warwickshire, and hit a tree.

WARWICKSHIRE coroner Sean McGovern recorded an accidental death verdict at the resumed inquest on off-duty Sheldon-based firefighter Tim Cartlidge, who died of multiple injuries last September after the BMW car he was driving left Harbury Lane, Chesterton, south Warwickshire, and hit a tree.

Mr Cartlidge, who was 26 and lived in Leamington Spa, had head and chest injuries. He died at the scene. No other vehicle was involved.

Colleagues from Sheldon were among 100 firefighters who attended his funeral last year in Leamington.
