Council acting on troubled road

RESIDENTS on Warwick Road are urging the council to act fast before the ongoing parking problems cause a 'major accident'.

RESIDENTS on Warwick Road are urging the council to act fast before the ongoing parking problems cause a 'major accident'.

The troubled area is between Ashley Road and Manor Road as cars continue to clutter the pavement and disrupt flowing traffic.

A 70-year-old man from Warwick Road who didn't want to be named said he felt that the council should introduce double yellow lines to stop someone getting killed.

"For two or three months now we've been phoning the police and the council to try and get something done."

"I've seen people walking up with their shopping, it's just not on, they don't understand the trouble they are causing," added the 70-year-old.

The angry resident said that he is also having trouble pulling out of his drive because the parked cars are blocking the view of oncoming traffic.

"I cannot see a thing when I pull out of my drive. It's so dangerous, I'm amazed someone hasn't been killed."

Amrik Manku, network manager for Solihull Council said: "We are installing yellow lines on Warwick Road, between Manor Road and Ashley Road as a temporary measure and then monitoring the traffic in this area."
