It may have been a wet December 25 for most of us but one couple were determined to have a white Christmas.
Liam Godwin married Megan Hewitt on Christmas Day at Hogarths Hotel in Dorridge - the first time the venue has held a festive wedding.
And the rain kept away long enough for the loved-up Yardley couple to enjoy a ‘magical’ outdoor ceremony in the hotel’s gardens.
“Right up until the minute they came outside to begin the ceremony it was pouring with rain,” said Hogarths’ wedding director Adam Bessant. “But then the bride and groom came onto the island and met on the bridge to begin the ceremony and it stopped raining and the sun came out – it was quite magical.”
Mr Bessant said although Hogarths can host weddings on December 25, no-one had asked for one before. “Liam and Megan rang up and asked if they could have Christmas Day and we checked with Solihull Register Office and they said yes, so we told them they could,” he added.
