MEMBERS of the public who work full time are being offered a special one off Credit Crunch Saturday session by Solihull Citizens Advice Bureau after volunteers were besieged by a massive increase in enquiries from people.

Staff at the office in Church Hill Road say they are concerned about the high number of residents coming through their doors who are unable to attend their normal drop in service during the day because they are at work and are eager to give people an extra opportunity to visit them and talk to an adviser.

Karen Marks, manager of the Solihull bureau, said: “We have seen a big increase in the number of people wanting debt and employment advice, many of these are still in work but are concerned about the security of their jobs.”

“The volunteers wanted to do something to help those who we don’t normally get to see because they can’t get into the bureau during our normal opening hours.”

Credit Crunch Saturday will take place on February 28 from 10am to 1pm and will operate on an appointment only basis.

Anyone wanting to make an appointment should call Solihull CAB on 0121 705 2212 between 10am and 4pm Monday to Friday.

People who are in need of out of hours advice but cannot make this date, can make an evening appointment for Shirley Citizens Advice Bureau by telephoning 0121 744 3238 or Chelmsley Wood Bureau on 0121 779 6707.
