A BATTLE to stop a garden-grabbing scheme in the heart of the borough goes to the Planning Inspector next week.
The proposals - to build across four back gardens in Widney Manor Road - was thrown out by Solihull Council in July. But developers lodged an appeal and the Government must decide whether to uphold or overturn the original decision.
This week, the Widney Manor Action Group (WMAG) held a meeting to discuss their course of action.
Residents will be turning-out in force for the public inquiry, which starts next Tuesday (January 11).
Local woman Sarah Smith said that the local community felt very strongly about the plans.
“Fortunately there haven’t been many of these applications in this part of the borough,” she said.
“And that’s why we want to protect the green-belt, if one scheme is approved then more will follow.”
Councillor Joe Tildesley (Con, St Alphege) will also be speaking out against the proposals.
The public inquiry will be held at the SIMTR Conference Centre, Damson Parkway, starting at 10am.
