TWO of Solihull’s top high-street retailers have been rated in the top three in the UK, according to a survey conducted by consumer champion Which? last week.
Handmade cosmetics company Lush, and creative kitchenware chain Lakeland were rated second and third in a questionnaire taken by over 11,000 members of the public about 100 well-known stores in the UK.
According to Which?, the top three impressed shoppers with great customer service and knowledgeable staff who projected a real buzz about their products.
“We try to set ourselves apart from everyone else in terms of customer service. We really try to make friends with our customers,” said Katie Baxter, manager of Lush Solihull, which has also recently contributed to the launch of the national ‘No Borders’ campaign, which calls for the abolition of immigration controls.
“For us, knowledge of the products is really important to get across to customers. Lush is an all vegan and vegetarian company - people can challenge us on that, so as staff we must know exactly what’s in our products.”
The shoppers on Solihull’s high street seem to agree. Mrs Burkett, from Sheldon, visited Lush to ask for some advice about a product she had heard about.
“The staff are really helpful and friendly. They are really informative and seem to know a lot about their products.”
The sales assistants at Lakeland Solihull are equally as focused on the needs of their shoppers. A representative said: “We are thrilled that Lakeland has come third in the Which? survey. At Lakeland we put a strong emphasis on customer service, and this combined with our knowledgeable staff creates a friendly shopping experience. Receiving such a high score from our customers is a real honour.”
Jane Withington, from Knowle, is a regular shopper at Lakeland Solihull. “I just love the things that they sell really, it’s all useful and innovative. The staff have always been helpful whenever I have gone in.”
