I READ David Irwin’s article (Solhull News 12 Feb) featuring Councillor Ken Meeson’s comments about the small funding Solihull MBC receives from central government and thus seeking to justify why the council tax increase will be an above inflation rise (yet again) of 2.25per cent.
Clearly good cost control will be necessary to manage such a small increase relative to those the council has enjoyed in recent years.
Consequently I have been astounded this month to see workers with ‘Enterprise’ on their overalls mowing the grass verges in Solihull. Which householders cut their lawns in February? It strikes me that the environmental department of SMBC just has not got the cost cutting message.
