Thousands of cyclists will be heading to Birmingham this Sunday for the fourth annual Sky Ride

For the 2013 event, there will be a three-mile route between Cannon Hill Park and Millennium Point, with Team GB’s Jess Varnish joining local people for the journey.

Organisers of the ride have an added spring in their step this year after an extra £17m was made available for the second city’s ambitious City Cycle scheme.

But borough bikers need not miss out, with Cyclesolihull organising an eight-mile ride into the city centre.

The group will leave Tudor Grange cycle circuit at 11.30am and make its way, via quiet roads, into the middle of Birmingham.

There will be a return ride from Cannon Hill Park in the afternoon, arriving back in Solihull by 5pm. The rides are free and open to everyone.

Cyclesolihull’s regular events programme continues the following Sunday with a nine-mile family ride to Temple Balsall, leaving Knowle Parish Church at 2pm.

Full details of all these rides are available at www.cyclesolihull.org.uk.
