OLYMPIC medal winner and cycling legend Tommy Godwin will be the guest of honour at this year’s Catney Village Fete.
Tommy will be bringing along his bike, racing shirt and two bronze medals from the 1948 London Olympics to the event, as well as the London 2012 torch he carried through Solihull on Sunday July 1. Meriden MP Caroline Spelman will open the event, at the Village Hall, Hampton Lane, Catherine de Barnes, at 2pm on Saturday July 14.
A whole host of Olympic themed games and entertainment will then be available throughout the afternoon as well as a grand raffle with top prizes including £100, an autographed football from West Bromwich Albion FC, radio controlled model Range Rover from Land Rover and meals for two from Longfellows Restaurant and the Boat Inn.
The fete will be followed by a barn dance, auction and pig roast from 7.30pm.
Tickets are available from fete sponsors SPAR Hampton Lane, Ele & Co, Longfellows and The Boat Inn. All proceeds will be donated to the Catney Village Hall Restoration Fund.
