SHIRLEY teenager Rebecca Took has won a plum role in the English Youth Ballet’s latest production.
The 14-year-old appeared in The Sleeping Beauty, which arrived at a Shrewsbury theatre last week.
She battled through some fairly intense auditions to win a part in the production - which boasted around 100 local dancers.
Proud mum Penny said: “Rebecca has been interested in dance since she was about four-years-old.
“She’s with the Solihull Young Dancers and has done plenty of shows in the past.
“We were absolutely delighted when she got a part in this show and it’s going to be a great experience for her.”
Although she’s tried her feet at tap, modern and many other styles of dancing, ballet is Rebecca’s favourite style.
As well as her stint in The Sleeping Beauty, the youngster is also getting ready for another performance with Solihull Young Dancers next month.
While currently studying at Solihull School, Rebecca is considering a dancing career.
