WANT to stay in good health in the future? Then make sure you have a versatile smartphone, it’s just what the doctor will order.
Apps on prescription are being projected by the NHS - to give patients more control over their own health.
Last summer, the Department of Health invited people to tell them about successful health-related apps.
All of these have gone into the melting pot with the idea of having officially approved apps that GPs can prescribe in parallel with approved medications.
Of course, no App will cure, but they can monitor, warn or diagnose.
There are a host of pulse rate, blood pressure and diabetes tracking apps, but we don’t know which ones are good for us.
So, the idea of having NHS sanctioned health apps is a sound one. Perhaps, though, the Government also needs a plan to avoid a two-tier health system, for those who have top smartphones and those who do not.
