I REGULARLY take my husband to the doctors in Grove Road, and as he has trouble walking I try to park in the bays marked out in front of the surgery. Frequently I find many of these occupied by taxis waiting for a pick up call.
Last Friday I was waiting in a bay marked out for two cars, I was the second car, the first car had a taxi parked in front of it on the single yellow line. Along came the parking attendant who booked the car in front of me whilst holding a conversation with the taxi driver who was still parked on the yellow line.
At no time did the attendant book the taxi driver or ask him to move. The time was 3pm so parking was not allowed at that time. Minutes later I drove off down Grove Road and counted another three taxis parked on yellow lines. The traffic warden must have passed them on his way up the road. Do taxis have an arrangement with the council that we don’t know about?
