THE funeral of a Solihull man who enjoyed a long-standing ministry in the Church will take place on Wednesday.

THE funeral of a Solihull man who enjoyed a long-standing ministry in the Church will take place on Wednesday.

Brian Easter, 75, of Dingle Lane, died suddenly on Tuesday after a long battle with prostate cancer.

He was vicar at St Swithin’s Church in Barston during the 1960s and 1970s.

Previously, he was chaplain of Monyhull Hospital in Kings Norton for 26 years up until his retirement in 1999.

For the last six to seven years, he was branch padre to the Solihull and District branch of the RAF Association

A large number of clergy and ex-service personnel are expected to attend the service which will be at 3pm on Wednesday at St Alphege Church, Church Hill Road.

The funeral will be followed by a cremation at Robin Hood Cemetery, Streetsbrook Road, Shirley at 9.30am on the following day.
