A SENIOR Solihull detective has been charged with child sex offences, it emerged this week.
Det Insp Glen Boulton, 45, has been accused of abusing two young girls between 1977-1982.
He has now been suspended by West Midlands Police, but had been manager of Solihull’s child abuse investigation unit.
Until earlier this year, he had also sat on the sub-committee of the Solihull Safeguarding Children Board.
He faces four charges of indecent assault against a person or persons aged under 16, and two counts of indecency with a child.
Det Insp Boulton appeared before Wolverhampton Magistrates Court on May 11.
The case was adjourned and he will go back before the same court on June 22. He has not yet entered a plea.
West Midlands Police have confirmed that a 45-year-old man had been arrested and charged with serious sexual offences.
A spokesman said: “The individual is a police officer with West Midlands Police and has been suspended from his role. Due to the serious nature of the charges and the fact that legal proceedings are ongoing, it would be inappropriate of us to make any further comment at this time.”
