THE Warwick developer who wanted to build more than 70 new homes in Marston Green has gone into administration.
The Sandstone Group Ltd had fought a lengthy battle to put a new estate in Elmdon Lane - appealing to the Planning Inspectorate and eventually the High Court.
In December, the company withdrew its latest challenge, but would not rule out a new application. However, it has since been reported in the London Gazette that the firm has gone bust and that a Birmingham administrator has now been appointed.
Linda Poulson is the spokeswoman for Marston Green Opposing Overdevelopment - the action group who had fought the Elmdon Lane development.
“The company has caused us so much worry over the past few months, but we have got sympathy for those workers who have lost their jobs.
“It’s a strange situation because I think actually we probably have a lot to thank Sandstone for as well. The community spirit that was shown throughout this battle was incredible. I think now there’s just a sense of real relief that the proposals seem to be over.”
