PEOPLE across the borough are being encouraged to get their hands dirty as they prepare to take part in a fun new gardening competition - Solihull Neighbourhoods in Bloom.
Solihull Neighbourhoods in Bloom is open to everyone and aims to get people taking part together to make the borough beautiful. There are few rules – just some guidelines – and no experience of gardening is necessary.
As well as looking for the best gardening displays there will also be awards for the most original entries - ideas and inspiration are just as important as gardening flair. Entries which help wildlife are also encouraged.
Entry categories include Streets and Community Areas, as well as front gardens and hanging baskets, schools, villages and retail/business frontages. There is also a category for Solihull Community Housing.
The competition is being sponsored by Notcutts Garden Centre and Green Thumb, who specialise in lawn treatments. Both companies are generously giving vouchers or goods as prizes for the winning entrants.
Closing date for entries is June 15. For more information, entry forms and inspirational ideas go to www.solihull.gov.uk/solihullinbloom/default.htm
