THE RSPCA is caring for a dog believed to have been thrown over a 12ft drop and left stranded on a canal bank for over a week.
The staffie cross had been spotted by staff at the Castle Bromwich Inn, Chester Road, trapped at the adjacent waterside.
RSPCA officers were called to the scene in December, but every time they attempted to rescue the dog, she ran off into the brambles.
Eventually inspector Georgia McCormick was able to coax the canine out with the leftovers from the hotel’s Christmas dinner.
The dog - finally taken into the charity’s care on Boxing Day - has been christened Holiday and the animal charity are now looking for a new home.
“She was pretty thin and I think the only way she could have got onto this canal shore line is by someone dumping her there – which is pretty horrific,” said Insp McCormick.
“If we do not manage to trace her owner then we will hopefully find her a new owner who will give her the love and care that she truly deserves.”
Anyone with information about Holiday should call the RSPCA appeal line on 0300 123 8018.
