TOP comedian Don Maclean will be supporting this year’s Knowle Fun Run.
The Solihull funnyman will be starting the popular event and presenting the prizes at the finish line. The fund raising challenge - now in its 26th year - will be taking place on Sunday May 10.
Don is the latest local celebrity to start the runners on the five mile route.
Fellow comic Jasper Carrott, Sarah Falkland from Midlands Today and Radio WM’s Phil Upton are among the famous faces to have previously backed the event.
“It’s going to be a really great event with all the proceeds this year going to some really worthy causes including Macmillan Cancer Support, Whizz-Kidz and local causes,” said the entertainer.
More than 850 runners have already signed up, but organisers Knowle and Dorridge Lions are urging more people to come forward. And don’t forget that youngsters can take part in the special Mini Runs.
Adrian Harris, from the Lions, said: “Why not get together with three friends or colleagues from work or school and make up a team? Or why not dress up in fancy dress and give the spectators around the course a good laugh?”
To register for this year’s run go to www.KnowleFunRun.org.uk before April 30.
