Former Crackerjack funnyman Don Maclean has been finding out what he’s let himself in for at this year’s Knowle Fun Run.

While the 1970s actor and comedian won’t be running the 5.2 mile race, Don will officially kick-off the fun run and the four ‘mini runs’ at the event on May 18.

“I’m delighted to have been asked to support the Knowle Fun Run, which I understand has been going for 31 years now, and last year over 2,000 runners from all over the Midlands and beyond, raised over £50,000 for charity,” he said. “It’s going to be a really great event with all the proceeds this year going to some really worthy causes – The Brian Tumour Charity, Northleigh House and Vision Care and local organisations.

“I’m really looking forward to a great day and hope runners will enter on-line to take part before the May deadline. We don’t want anyone disappointed, do we?”

Over 350 runners have already entered the event, where Don will also be on hand to dish out prizes for fastest man, woman, junior, veteran and team. To enter and for more information visit www.KnowleFunRun.org.uk
