A PENSIONER has been fined after knocking a cyclist off her bike in Shirley.
James Comer, 73, was driving along the Stratford Road on July 1, when he clipped the back of the bicycle, causing the rider to wobble and fall off.
The Anthony Road resident pleaded guilty at Solihull Magistrates Court on Monday to driving without due care and attention.
Prosecuting, Malcolm Stoddart said: "The incident happened at the Sainsbury's site on Stratford Road, at 1pm. The cyclist was coming down to the last junction with the entry to the car park.
"The cyclist saw the car rolling forward. As she passed, he [Comer] has caught the back wheel of the bike. The cyclist has then wobbled and fallen off.
The cyclist suffered a stiff ankle and there was some damage to the bike, the court heard.
In his defence, the bench was told Comer, who suffers with heart problems, did not realise at the beginning he had hit the bike but did stop to check the cyclist was okay.
Comer was fined £50, told to pay £85 costs and s15 victim surcharge.
