SMOKERS interested in beating their habit are being offered more free help and support.
Several new stop smoking drop-ins, run by the local NHS Stop Smoking Service, have been set up to offer confidential advice, and support, to those who want to beat their smoking habit.
These evening drop-ins are being offered at a variety of community venues, and as there is no need to book, people can simply drop in.
Shard End Community Centre, at 170 Packington Avenue, Shard End, is running sessions every Tuesday from 5.30 – 7pm while on Wednesdays from 6 – 7pm there will be a clinic at the Anne Marie Howes Centre, Platt Brook Way, Sheldon.
Dave Jones, operational manager at NHS Birmingham East and North’s Stop Smoking Service, said: “All our sessions are open to anyone who wants to stop smoking. Even if you don’t want to use Nicotine Replacement Therapies, you can still come along for advice and support. If you want a more confidential appointment, or for more information on your local service, call 0800 0525855, text ‘QUIT’ to 80800 or go to the website at http://benpct.nhs.uk/your-services/health-wellbeing/smoking
