Drug smuggling gang get jail term

A TRIO of local men have been jailed for smuggling huge amounts of cannabis into the region.

A TRIO of local men have been jailed for smuggling huge amounts of cannabis into the region.

Matthew Feavyour, 29, from Hall Green, Gary Moore, 52, from Solihull and Andrew Rickard, 45, also of Hall Green had used the elaborate operation to fund a “champagne lifestyle”.

The Class B drug had been smuggled into the country from Holland, concealed inside air conditioning units.

Birmingham Crown Court heard that the gang ran cannabis factories from their homes and also stored drugs at a haulage depot in Monkspath.

They hoped their enterprise would make them £250,000.

Prosector Michael Duck explained that they had smuggled in the drugs under the guise of a legitimate company.

But police became suspicious about activities at the Monkspath premises - carrying out a search and finding drugs on the site.

They then devised a trap for the gang - swapping part of a load for sand and swooping on Rickard when he came to pick it up.

When detectives went to Feavyour’s address, in Primrose Lane, they found that three rooms had been converted into a cannabis factory.

He was jailed for six years, Moore for six-and-a-half and Rickard for four.
