DRUGS thought to be worth more than £50,000 have been seized by police across Smiths Wood.

The three month operation between January 8 and April 30 this year saw officers execute 28 drugs warrants as part of Operation Gardener.

Police forced entry to 26 of the properties where they found six cannabis factories and the remains of another as well as three Pit Bull Terriers and one taser device.

A total of 18 people were arrested and charged with drug offences and one person was charged with possession of a prohibited weapon under the Firearms Act.

One of the dogs was destroyed and another is due to be put down. Two people are to be charged later this week with being in possession of a fighting dog under the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991.
