A DRUNK woman, who claimed she was pregnant before digging her nails into the face of a PC, has admitted assault.
Police were called to the Olton Tavern in Lode Lane, on November 6, after reports that a 27-year-old woman, Laura Harvey, was drunk and refusing to leave.
Malcolm Stoddart, prosecuting, said: “When officers arrived she told them she was 27 weeks pregnant and was suffering stomach pains.
“(But) she wouldn’t get in the ambulance, she just kept trying to get back into the public house.”
Harvey, of Hobs Meadow, Solihull, then attempted to push past PC Roberts to gain entry into the Olton Tavern.
“By this point the defendant was shouting and screaming,” he added.
The court heard she had pushed the police officer before placing them in a headlock and digging her nails into the officer’s cheeks.
She was arrested and admitted she had been drinking all day, consuming three pints of lager, nine shots of tequila and a bottle of wine.
At Solihull Magistrates Court, Harvey pleaded guilty to assaulting a police officer and being drunk and disorderly.
Nichola Purches, defending, said her client’s extreme drinking had already led to her children being taken into foster care.
“Speaking to her today, she is a very pleasant lady,” she added. “But she has a very severe problem with alcohol.”
The case was adjourned until December 14 for pre-sentence reports to be prepared.
