Duck has lucky escape in Solihull

SOLIHULL is officially out of drought, following the wettest April on record.

SOLIHULL is officially out of drought, following the wettest April on record.

Meriden MP Caroline Spelman had warned people to be on stand-by after the Environment Agency declared the region was in drought almost five weeks ago.

But the organisation has now conceded that last month’s heavy rain has increased the water level of rivers and reservoirs.

In Solihull, several waterways burst their banks at the end of April - including the River Blythe near Hampton-in-Arden and the canal at Aqueduct Road, Solihull Lodge.
