A HUSBAND and wife spent Christmas Eve in the dog house - quite literally!
Ruth Boswell, manager of the Perry Barr Retired Greyhound Trust, and husband Bob were tucked-up at Elmdon’s Daybreak Kennels.
Keeping them company, and warm, were the couple’s six dogs - Shrew, Basil, Foxy, Wispa, Maggie and Joe.
Despite the freezing weather, Ruth said that the kennels were perfectly comfortable, if a little cramped for humans.
“It is a sacrifice being here, instead of home, but we always say how clean and cosy the kennels are,” she told the Solihull News.
“We held a similar event last year during the summer, which was probably more sensible.”
And the work didn’t stop on Christmas Day, with the couple spending most of Saturday caring for the canines.
Only when they had attended to the greyhounds did they finally get home to have dinner.
Sponsorship money from the sleepover will help pay for vets’ bills and improvements to the Coventry Road kennels. Last time, the event raised £3,500 for the charity and Ruth hopes for even more this time. To sponsor the couple, go to www.justgiving.com/ruth-boswell-sleepover.
