YOUNG people aged 8-14 got a sneak preview of the range of activities that will be available to them this Easter in Acocks Green, when they visited an open day organised by 8+ Play Opportunities on Saturday.

8+ Play Opportunities is a new holiday playscheme for 8-14s incorporating both all day childcare and 2 ½ hour play sessions.

Manic Morning’s will include lively and energetic team games to get the blood pumping.

Young people will learn about teamwork and the value of exercise. Arty Afternoon’s will include a range of arts crafts, dance and drama to help young people express themselves creatively.

Activities on offer range from cooking on a campfire to creating art with digital photography.

The playscheme will encourage teamwork, life skills and a better understanding of being a good citizen in an environment where young people feel safe and free to express themselves.

Birmingham City Council’s Yardley Constituency Play Fund has supported the scheme with a donation of £2,700 which will enable the playscheme to invest in good quality resources and will also subsidise the cost of staff enabling the Playscheme to offer the sessions at just £2.50 each.

Play leader Gemma Sharman said: “This scheme will meet the needs the of the 8+ and stimulate them in an environment built for bigger kids!”

Places are available on a first come first served basis,. Call 07951 674 624 for more information or to book.
