A LUSH and colourful garden - maintained by a north Solihull pensioner - has scooped a top award.

Edith Wootton is a keen gardener and her Winchester Drive plot has attracted many admiring glances from neighbours and friends.

And last month the colourful mix of flower beds and borders wowed the judges of the annual Solihull in Bloom competition.

The garden won first place in the Chelmsley Wood neighbourhood and her array of hanging baskets also impressed.

“I always do my best to make the garden look nice and it’s somewhere that the whole family can enjoy,” said Edith.
