ELMDON churchgoers have welcomed the announcement of a new Rector.
Reverend Toby Crowe will take up his new post at St Nicholas Church, in the centre of Elmdon Park, in June. He follows Rev’d Paul Carter, who retired last year.
He will also work at St Stephen’s and Valley Church Centres, which are situated in the residential areas either side of the park.
Churchwardens Cheryl Doyle and Richard Huss said: “We are absolutely delighted by this appointment. We believe that God is doing great things in Elmdon and Toby’s experience will really help us to make connections with local people, especially families and children.”
Rev’d Crowe, who has a wife, Emma and two small children, trained for ministry at the University of Cambridge and currently works in a London parish.
Before that, the 41-year-old was a teacher in inner London primary schools.
“We are so excited to be moving to Elmdon and we look forward to getting to know the people there in the months and years ahead,” he said. “Our son, who is two, loves the ducks in Elmdon Park.”
Rev’d Crowe will be welcomed as Rector at a special service on June 19 conducted by the Bishop of Birmingham.
