MRS Liz Moloney along with mom, Betty Parker, were reunited with an old “friend” at Wythall Transport Museum on Easter Monday.
Liz was amazed when she saw a picture in the Solihull News (Jan 23) of the very bus her dad, Les Parker, had acquired and then drove for Foster Bros. in Marshall Lake Road in the late 1960’s.
“Over the years all of our family have been told about the bus Dad used to drive, but we had no idea that it still existed until we saw the article in the paper,” says Liz who shared her story in Archive News (Feb 13) recently.
“When I was a schoolgirl and Dad would pass me on the Stratford Road, he’d sound the bus’s horn and I would be so embarrassed, but now I am so proud because I understand that if he hadn’t acquired this bus this particular type would be extinct.
It’s so wonderful to see the work that has been done on it by the museum.”
Over last weekend the museum saw more visitors than on any previous Easter weekend, no doubt due to the fine weather and recent coverage in the Solihull News.
