End of the road for a classic trip

AFTER 61 cities and 3000 miles, a fund-raising family have arrived back home in Solihull.

AFTER 61 cities and 3000 miles, a fund-raising family have arrived back home in Solihull.

Craig Gardner and team had set themselves the target of visiting every city in mainland UK - in just 13 days.

And to add a local touch, they decided to do the journey in a pair of classic Jaguars.

By Sunday morning, the group had only two more cities to cross off their list - having already driven from one end of the country to the other.

First up was Birmingham - with the team travelling into the city centre and parking up by the Town Hall.

Then it was a short trip to the Jaguar factory in Castle Bromwich, where the team met over 40 other car enthusiasts.

The convoy then drove to the final destination - Coventry - and came to a halt outside the city’s Transport Museum.

Craig said: “I entered Coventry’s Millennium Place in front of their brilliant transport museum feeling more nervous than I have ever felt before.

“However this was immediately put to one side when I saw my little boy James beaming at me across the square.

“At that moment I felt so proud and felt I had achieved what I had set out to do.”

Sponsorship money is still coming in and will be shared between two charities - Cancer Research UK and the Down’s Syndrome Association.
