WELL done Centro on your award. I attended your 10-year strategy meeting at the Burlington Hotel on July 4.
I had been writing to yourselves, National Express and bus users to tell of the problems in this area since January 25 when changes took place. There were more changes on May 31 and still two buses leave Dorridge station, proceed up Poplar Road and one turns left into Mill Lane and one turns right. No one gets on or off the one that turns right and then left into Widney Road.
You removed one bus that went up Station Road and then left into Widney Road which served Downing Close clinic, two disabled homes and three disabled bungalows. The Widney Road stop is vital for these services and would give an alternative to the hour ly services to Balsall Common and Acocks Green. You state buses are running at 70 per cent. Why? Because all the people using Downing Close now take a taxi.
We are trying to get people out of cars. Forget your 10-year strategy and do something now. You will be elderly one day and all you will want when you can’t drive is a bus or train near enough to get to the shops, doctors, libraries, church or to enjoy a day out. Here this plea.
