AN estranged husband who bombarded his wife with hundreds of texts before attempting to kill himself at her home has received an indefinite retaining order.

Graham Rudd, 50 of Cornets End Lane, Meriden, sent his wife unwanted gifts and up to 250 texts a month in a desperate attempt to win her back after she had left him following his numerous affairs, Leamington Crown Court heard.

Last October he had parked on her driveway and connected a hosepipe from the exhaust into the car to try and commit suicide but the police arrived in time.

Rudd, who pleaded guilty to breaching a non-molestation order was also given a community sentence with 18 months supervision and ordered to do 75 hours unpaid work at Leamington Crown Court.
