THE victims of a prolific mugger - jailed last month - will benefit from an upcoming fundraising night.
Chelmsley Wood man John Simpson is organising a disco-night, with proceeds going to ten women who were robbed earlier this year.
Carl Jackson, 25, was given a five-year jail sentence after admitting the robberies, the majority of which happened in north Solihull.
John said that he wanted to do something to help the victims.
“It was a nasty experience for these poor women and I felt that they deserved a treat,” said the 38-year-old.
“We also want to show that not everyone in Chelmsley Wood is bad and that this is a close community.
“There was a real sense of spirit during the muggings and I can’t praise some people enough for what they did.”
Popular DJ Mark Evans will be performing and local businesses have given raffle prizes. Meriden MP Caroline Spelman has donated a bottle of House of Commons sherry.
The fundraiser will be taking place at the Conservative Club, in Bosworth Drive, on November 26.
The event starts at 8pm with tickets available on the door.
