Everyone had a 14 grand ball

MORE than £14,000 was raised at this year’s Mayor’s Borough Ball for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Billed as “the Ball for All” it took place at the National Motorcycle Museum. on Saturday March 28.

A grand total of 588 guests enjoyed dinner and dancing to the Earl Gray Band.

Guests played heads & tails and had a go on the tombola.

A successful auction also took place and more than £14,500 was raised for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Jasper Carrott assisted Brian Chappelhow, the master of ceremonies, in the heads & tails contest and gave out the prizes.

The Mayor of Solihull, Cllr David Bell said: “I have been bowled over by the response to the ball. The tickets were sold out two months ago.

“Then on the night everything went so well due to the preparation and planning of the Mayor’s committee and the excellent service from the National Motorcycle Museum.

“It was clear that a good time was had by all but at the same time a massive £14,500 was raised for Macmillan Cancer Support as a result of the generosity of my 588 guests and sponsors. I am very grateful to them all.”
