Jonathan Palmer, 52, appeared at Worcester Crown Court on Tuesday (January 5) accused of killing Melinda Palmer, who was 57, at the home they shared in Wadborough, near Pershore on December 22.
A post-mortem examination showed that Mrs Palmer had significant head injuries although police said they did not know what had been used as a murder weapon.
The couple had previously lived at East Lodge on Warwick Road before moving to the Worcestershire village last year.
Police appealed for anyone who saw Mr Palmer on the day his wife died to come forward.
