Extravaganza aiming for a guide dog boost

COMPANIES from Solihull are being urged to attend a business to business event which is being held to raise funds for a Guide Dogs for the Blind appeal.

COMPANIES from Solihull are being urged to attend a business to business event which is being held to raise funds for a Guide Dogs for the Blind appeal.

The all-day “People 2 People Extravaganza” is being held at The New Bingley Hall, Wednesday June 17.

The event offers a blend of exhibiting, networking and inspirational seminars for businesses across the Midlands.

The event is looking to kick-start a new charity appeal with the goal of raising £35,000, the amount required to train and maintain a guide dog.

The charity event was the brain-child of Angela Agnew, the Solihull-based managing director of switched_on.biz,

Angela said: “We are aiming to raise enough money to sponsor a guide dog for Steve Cunningham, who is officially the fastest blind man on earth! Steve is an inspiration and motivator to anyone who meets him – he needs a new guide dog as his current companion is due to retire and we want to help.”

To support the event a host of leading international business and motivational speakers have donated their time to present to the anticipated 200 delegates.

Angela added: “This is a charity fund raiser, but it presents a fantastic opportunity for business people across the Midlands to network or exhibit and be inspired. I encounter many businesses bucking the recession and doing particularly well because they are making useful contacts through networking. So I urge businesses to come along, be inspired and help raise funds for this fantastic cause.”
