HOW predictable that Conservative Council Leader Ken Meeson is writing to the press again to spread misinformation about Liberal Democrat policy (letters, June 26).

HOW predictable that Conservative Council Leader Ken Meeson is writing to the press again to spread misinformation about Liberal Democrat policy (letters, June 26).

This time he tries to imply that we are sitting on the fence regarding the Powergen site in Shirley.

As Ken already knows, Liberal Democrat councillors have long called for the Powergen site to be dealt with as part of a composite regeneration scheme including the former Territorial Army site. The Powergen site presently lies redundant in a considerable mess and it is disgraceful that Conservative-run Solihull Council has left it in that position for so long.

What baffles me is if the Tories were so against Asda building a superstore on the Powergen site, why on earth would they favour a superstore and residential accommodation decimating nearly three acres of Shirley Park?
