FAMILIES flocked to Chelmsley Wood’s The Loft last Saturday to take part in the annual ‘One Solihull’ day.
Now in its fourth year, Solihull Community Housing and Ashram Housing Association’s popular event helped mark Black History Month and World Mental Health Day with stalls to help raise awareness as well as music, dance, history, fashion and food.
African drum king Asha Barnes brought a selection of his bongos along and invited the audience to join him for a mass drum jam session. He was followed by Kingshurst rapper Arty Sketcha and the athletic four-man PressuriZe dance group.
The Mayor and Mayoress of Solihull, Councillor Ken and Mrs Janet Hawkins, were welcome visitors in their chains of office.
“This is a wonderful event, fantastic,” said the Mayor.
