A FASHION show is set to be held at John Lewis Solihull in memory of a borough woman who died of cancer at just 25.
Hayley Birch, from Monkspath, tragically succumbed to melanoma in October 2009 after an 18-month battle, which began with a mole on her leg.
Tests revealed it was cancerous and the mole was removed privately.
The Virgin Atlantic air stewardess thought she had beaten the disease but six months later she found a lump in her groin which then spread through her body.
But Hayley’s mum, Penny Birch, said her brave daughter never gave up and devoted her final months to organising a charity ball in aid of the Birmingham Queen Elizabeth Hospital’s Skin Cancer Research Fund.
Penny, who works at John Lewis, said: “Sadly she passed away a week before the ball but we went ahead for her sake.
“She was always told it was serious but she didn’t want to hear the word terminal. She was so positive and her strength was remarkable.
“This is a first for John Lewis Solihull to stage a fashion workshop of this size so my appreciation to them.”
The event will take place on September 29 at John Lewis Solihull from 5.30pm, with the fashion show starting at 6.30pm.
Tickets are £20 from the Gift List department on the first floor or via Penny on 078105 50563.
