RENEGADE ferrets got families furry excited when they ran amok in a shopping centre.
Visitors to Touchwood Shopping Centre got to choose their favourite ferret and watch it race against its friends in Library Square, this weekend.
Hundreds of spectators cheered as the ferrets scurried down the course to victory before enjoying other entertainment at the centre’s fete including tin can alley and a coconut shy hosted by people in top hat and tails.
Lucy Burnett, marketing manager at Touchwood, said: “Around 500 people came over the weekend and there were 25 races or one every 15 minutes to keep everyone entertained. Local kids have been coming along and supporting their favourite ferret.
“It is a great way of keeping kids busy and happy over the holidays.”
The free fete, including ferret racing, continues until Sunday.
